The Asus C214 flip Chromebook this Black Friday from Lidl for £149.99

When you’re considering buying a new Chromebook the last retailer on your mind may be Lidl. After all, this relative newcomer in the UK from Germany is better known for their food. They have taken on the grocery giants like Tesco by offering products at very competitive prices. They currently have a great deal for Black Friday. You can get your hands on the Asus C214 Flip for just £149.99. That’s an amazing offer.

If you’ve been looking for a new laptop and don’t want to spend a fortune. Then you may be interested in this deal. The Asus C214 Flip is a budget device, but it has a lot going for it. Especially at this price.

The Asus C214 is one tough laptop

The Asus C214 comes with an 11.6-inch display. This makes it the perfect-sized laptop to use on the move. Specifically made with the education sector in mind. Asus has made sure this laptop can cope with all the knocks and bangs a school children’s laptop might come up against.

It has passed the demanding tests to get the military-grade MIL-STD-810G certification. One of the advantages of passing this certification means it can cope with drops of 120cm and still work.

If that isn’t enough. Asus has put a rubber bumper around the whole unit, which really gives you the confidence this laptop can take a few knocks. Also, the keyboard is spill-resistant and the hinges have been designed to be extra tough.

2-in-1 Hybrid with Stylus support

It’s a 2-in-1 Hybrid Chromebook, which means you can use it as either a laptop or tablet. This is great because it also means it comes with a touchscreen. Really important if you want to use all the Android Apps available from the Play Store without any limitations.

Also, rather amazing for the price. It has stylus support. It’s important to note, although it has stylus support not all units ship with one. You’ll have to check this with each retailer before buying. In relation to the deal at Lidl. I couldn’t work out whether it does come with a stylus. If this is important, then possibly have a chat with them before buying.

What I also like is the stylus has a docking station, so you can put the stylus away when you’re not using it. I think this is really important because I constantly have to look for my stylus when wanting to use it with my Pixel Slate.

Asus C214 performance

The Asus C214 is aimed specifically at the education market. Therefore, the processor used is an entry-level Intel Celeron. A perfectly capable processor for word processing, spreadsheets, internet browsing, and streaming movies. You’ll also be able to use most of the Android apps without any issues.

The Intel Celeron dual-core processor has a base speed of 1.1 GHz with a Turbo boost of 2.8 GHz. It also comes with 4MB of cache, which is pretty decent for a budget processor.

The 4MB of RAM is more than enough for all of the tasks I’ve mentioned above. Due to Chrome OS being incredibly lightweight. You can do a lot of tasks with the processor used and 4GB of RAM. Find out more about how much RAM you need for your Chromebook.

The 32GB of storage isn’t a huge amount. However, providing you save all of your files in the cloud. You’ll easily be able to install about twenty to thirty Android apps without running out of storage space. Obviously, this will depend on the type of apps because they all vary in size.

If you’re after a laptop and don’t want to spend too much money this Black Friday. Then I’d definitely take a look at the Asus C214 available at Lidl. Lidl hasn’t done a very good job of providing enough information about the laptop. Therefore, if you want to know more then I’d suggest reading the information product page on the Asus website.

Although this Chromebook has been aimed at the education sector. This laptop will be ideal for anyone who wants a laptop to use on the move. The military standard certification and all-round rubber bumpers will give you peace of mind when it comes to damaging your laptop.
