The new Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2 360 is to be released in the UK
About a year ago I wrote an article about how happy I was that Samsung decided to start selling laptops in Europe again. Before then, we had a few years where Samsung Chromebooks were available in the USA, but none in the UK or Europe. This wasn't just Chromebooks, Samsung stopped selling any type of laptop.
Although there are plenty of other Chromebooks to choose from. Not being able to buy one from a manufacturer who is known for making great tech was a bit of a letdown. When Samsung announced they were bringing back laptops to the UK and Europe I was very excited about what this would mean for Chromebooks.
The new Galaxy Chromebook 2 360
In London, on 24 March 2022 Samsung announced a new Chromebook will be launched in the UK. The Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2 360 has been designed with students in mind, but I'm sure it will be a Chromebook that will suit all types of users.
What I love about Samsung products is that they look really cool. Apart from Google, there isn't another Chromebook manufacturer that puts a huge amount of effort into making your tech look so good. For me, that's really important because who wouldn't want to have a laptop that looks amazing.
From the images supplied by Samsung, the new Chromebook 2 360 definitely looks the part. It's super slim and has nice rounded edges to make it easy to carry.
How Samsung has kept the cost low
I think Samsung has made a really smart move on keeping the cost of this laptop low. At just £419 they've done that by concentrating on design and offering a fantastic display. This is something that most students would expect, and many laptop users will know the difference a good display makes. So they've essentially taken steps to ensure the important bits we all want from our laptops is taken care of.
They've kept the price low by not using a really high spec processor. I think this is a really good move because we've seen so many expensive Chromebooks released recently. Don't get me wrong, I've nothing against high-performing Chromebooks, I've got one, which is the Asus CX5 Chromebook.
Although it's great to have a laptop with a top of the range processor. The thing you need to remember when it comes to Chrome OS is that it's super lightweight. That means you can get most things done on a Chromebook with an entry-level processor.
Most budget Chromebooks with entry-level processors are budget everywhere else. What I mean by that is they also look cheap and the displays are usually pretty basic. I'm really glad the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2 360 is essentially a budget laptop, but you'd never know by looking at it.
Galaxy Chromebook 2 360 design and display
Has you may have already gathered by the name of this laptop it's a Hybrid 2-in-1 device. This means you can use it as either a laptop or a tablet. Something I think students would be really happy about, as having both form factors adds to the functionality.
It has a 12.4-inch display, which is an unusual size when you consider the standard being either 11.6 or 14-inches. Personally speaking, I prefer laptops with a display that is in this size range. My much beloved Asus C302 came with a 12.5-inch display and it was great.
Considering the size of the display you'll be getting amazingly crisp and sharp images and text. This is because it comes with a whopping 2,560 x 1,600 resolution. The display is also super bright, as Samsung points out the 350 nits brightness. That's really bright, so you should be able to use this laptop/tablet outside without any issues.
