Google to concentrate on new Android tablet rather than Pixelbook

The recent news that Google will be scrapping their next Pixelbook was a shock. The Pixelbook that was released every couple of years was something everyone waited for. This was because Google used the release of a new Pixelbook to show other manufacturers what the Chromebook was capable of.

Something else that may have shocked people was the news that they would focus their efforts on a new Android tablet. Android tablets are great but over the last ten years, the sales of tablets have been in decline. However, in the last couple of years, there has been a new interest in Android tablets, so Google wants to take advantage of that.

I’m looking forward to what Google brings to the table with their new Android tablet. Although you can use a Hybrid Chromebook in tablet mode, it doesn’t beat the experience you get with an Android tablet. ChromeOS has certainly gotten better in tablet mode over the last few years, but it isn’t a match for an Android tablet.

Google Android tablet

It’s been a long time since we’ve seen a Google Android tablet on the market. From what I can remember the last Android tablet made by the company was the Nexus. There were a couple of models available a smaller model with a display just under 9-inches and a much larger model.

I bought the smaller Nexus tablet and I was pretty impressed with it. This is going back a few years, so I’m excited to see what Google would offer us now. If you’ve ever owned a Pixel Slate you will know how beautiful that tablet was. The Pixel Slate was a ChromeOS tablet, which I really enjoyed using.

It had an amazing display with great speakers and was solidly built. Just what you expect when you buy a Google product. If Google offers something similar when designing their next Android tablet I’m sure it will be a great success.

Current Android tablets

If you’ve been looking at buying a new Android tablet recently. You will have noticed there are many different manufacturers to choose from. You can buy a really cheap tablet costing about £100/$100 or splash out on a top-of-the-range tablet costing more than £1000/$1000.

When it comes to higher-end tablets you will most likely end up buying a Samsung tablet. Although there are other manufacturers in the higher-end market. When it comes to getting one that has a beautiful design and great specs, it usually ends up being a Samsung tablet that you have your eye on.

Therefore, it makes sense for Google to come back into the Android tablet space. Although Samsung tablets are great, I currently own one I use on a daily basis. I’m sure Google could bring out a new tablet that Samsung would be envious of.

What to expect from a new Google tablet

It’s early days, so it’s hard to know exactly what Google will be offering. However, I think we can safely say the build quality will be excellent. Great build quality on a tablet is important providing it doesn’t mean the tablet is too heavy to hold for long periods of time. This will be one of the main things that Google will need to get right.

Of course, we will want to see a great display, excellent speakers and possibly a stylus. All of these are important, however, an Android tablet needs to be lightweight to be an excellent tablet. This will mean they will need to put a lot of effort into offering a tablet with high-quality material, but something that doesn’t mean the tablet is too heavy to hold for long periods.
