So we’re another year on and it’s time to take a look at the best Chromebooks you can buy in 2020. In the technology world nothing stands still for too long. When it comes to Chromebooks, well, it amazes me how far we’ve moved in the last couple of years.
Go back four years and the Asus C302 was the device of choice for many. Then we reached 2019, and due to the sheer number of new Chromebooks being launched. The Asus C302 only just managed to stay in the top ten Chromebooks in 2019 at position number seven.
Since then we’ve seen new Chromebooks from Asus, Acer and Google. Some of these Chromebooks are amazing and we now have access to some great devices. So let’s take a look at the Best Chromebooks in 2020.
It may not come as a surprise for many that the Pixelbook Go is currently the best Chromebook you can buy in 2020. However, I also accept not everyone will necessarily agree with this.
I understand why some may have been disappointed with the launch of the latest Chromebook from Google. Previous Pixelbook releases have offered something new, which we had not seen before. They were always pushing the boundaries to show what Chromebooks were capable of.
The Pixelbook Go, however, may not offer anything new on the technology front, but what it does offer is simply outstanding. Yes, it may not be a Hybrid device offering 2-in-1 functionality, so it cannot be used in tablet mode. It may also concern some that there is no Micro SD slot, so you cannot easily expand storage at a later date. Apart from that, it offers everything you would ever need from a laptop.
It is one of the best built and designed Chromebooks you’ll ever come across. The magnesium chassis used instead of aluminium not only makes it look cool. It also means it’s the lightest high-end device you can get your hands on.
The amazing display offering full HD 1,920 by 1,080 is all the resolution you need from a 13.3-inch display. Truly crisp images and text with vibrant colours that simply impress. All this in a compact device weighing just 2.3 pounds, which is just over 1kg.
It’s the perfect Chromebook for anyone who needs a laptop to use on the move. It’s most likely the reasons why Google called it the Pixelbook Go. Add to that, the best keyboard you can get on any laptop in the world right now, and you’ve got the best Chromebook in 2020.
It took the number two position in 2019 and it keeps it in 2020. The Acer Spin 13 still offers so much more than other Chromebooks on the market.
In 2019 the previous Pixelbook won the number one slot. The Pixelbook is still a great device, but now the Pixelbook Go has been launched you’ll find it hard to find the older Pixelbook for sale.
The Acer Spin 13 has a lot of similarities to the Pixelbook. It uses the same aspect ratio of 3:2 and comes with a built-in stylus. The good news is that this Chromebook is still available to buy, and if you’re after a device with stylus support and blazingly fast performance. Then this device should definitely be on your wishlist.
The display is what makes this laptop stand out from the crowd. The 13.5-inch display offers a truly amazing 2,265 by 1,504 resolution. The IPS panel offers crisp beautiful images and the touchscreen works perfectly.
It may not be for everyone and it’s definitely one of the most expensive Chromebooks available. What you get for your money though is pretty impressive.
The HP x 360 Chromebook I feel is personally overlooked. It may be a couple of years old now but this still offers an amazing experience.
Sure, in a couple of months from now when the Asus C436 and Samsung Galaxy Chromebook is launched; it will struggle to keep its position. However, until then, this is still a laptop you should definitely be considering when looking to buy a new Chromebook.
The full HD 14-inch display sits comfortably into a compact 13-inch chassis. It’s a hybrid, so you can use it as a laptop or tablet and the display offers great images and viewing angles thanks to the IPS panel.
There are better keyboards out there, but the HP x 360 still offers a pleasurable typing experience. If you can snap this up at a bargain price, then you should definitely consider it.
Asus is well known when it comes to Chromebooks. That should be no shock being that they’ve launched about four new models in the last year. Out of all the models they’ve currently released this is definitely the best.
It was the device to replace the much loved Asus C302 flip, so it had to impress. Well, it definitely does that and is still one of the best Chromebooks you can buy in 2020.
It comes with a decent Intel M3 eight-generation processor, which is capable of speeds of up to 3.40 GHz. Not as fast as some of the latest Intel i3 to i7 processors, but it still manages to perform well.
The HD display with full 1080p resolution and IPS panel offers great images and viewing angles. Also, it comes with the now-famous Asus ultra-thin bezels around the display. This really helps the Asus C434 in both looks and keeping that 14-inch display fitted nicely into a 13-inch chassis.
It’s a great Chromebook for anyone who needs a laptop for typing. This is thanks to the amazing keyboard. Perfect key-travel, well-spaced keys and a backlit keyboard make it great for typing day or night.
You don’t get many Dell Chromebooks compared to some of the other manufacturers. This is a shame, especially for the Dell lovers out there. The Dell Inspiron 14 offers great build quality and comes with a stylus.
This makes it a great choice for people who want to get a little artistic. It’s also a Hybrid, so it can be used in both laptop and tablet mode. It’s one of the most well-built sturdy devices you’ll come across and the display works great with the stylus.
It offers a full HD 14-inch display with an IPS panel. This makes it perfect for viewing at all angles. If you love Dell, then this is still a great Chromebook to buy in 2020.
You may have noticed that although we’ve seen many new Chromebooks released in the last couple of years. That the list is very similar to 2019 with the only difference being the Pixelbook being replaced by the Pixelbook Go for the number one position.
However, this list will be updated throughout the year when new Chromebooks are released. We’ll definitely be seeing a shakeup once the Samsung Galaxy and Asus C436 has been fully reviewed. Both of these Chromebooks are set to become big sellers, so I’m eager to see what they offer later in the year.
Unfortunately, Samsung no longer makes laptops in the UK, so if you’re outside the US it will not be available. However, the Asus C436 is sure to be an interesting option, and will no doubt be knocking some of these Chromebooks from there current position.
